The end of August means summer is over, but it does not mean that there would be less exciting programs for visitors to Szeged with the arrival of the colorful autumn days.
The last days of August end with the traditional International Tisza Fish Festival at Huszár Mátyás Quay from 31 August to 2 September. The first weekend of September is about the famous fish soup of Szeged and besides delicious meals; visitors can choose from artisan products from all over the country.
The XIV. Szeged Autumn Jewish Cultural Festival is organized from 2 September to the beginning of November. It features concerts, photo and art exhibitions, and book presentations from the Hungarian Jewish culture and from the works of artists from Hungary and Szeged, the Israeli film week at the Jewish Community Headquarters, in the New Synagogue.
On 12 September Dóm tér is full with people as one of the most wanted events of the year gets started, the 8. Wine Square. Fantastic wines, great concerts, gastronomic specialties and gatherings characterize the Wine Square where more than 100 vineries await wine lovers.
Three days about flights, aircrafts and aviators. An old tradition is awakening at the Szeged Airport from 14 to 16 on the Szeged Air Show. Besides several exciting programs, participants can see Péter Besenyi world champion air racer’s show flight on 16 September.
St. Gellert Festival is organized for the 11th time this year by the Diocese of Szeged-Csanád. The festival is connected to the feast day of martyr St. Gellert, the first bishop of the diocese. The concert series in 2018 lasts from 21 September to 1st October, where the audience can have a really special classical music experience that enrich the colorful music life of Szeged. The festival program includes orchestra and chamber concerts, a charity concert and scientific lectures.
On 29 September, the last Saturday of September, the Szeged paprika is celebrated within the Saint Francis Day Paprika Festival in Alsóváros. In the Rural House in Alsóváros visitors can meet the traditions, while visitors to the Franciscan monastery can get to know the healing traditions of the monks.
The Autumn Cultural Festival starts on 1st October in Szeged. It is organized for the 13th time this year and the aim of the program series is that besides the university’s art groups and students with artistic ambitions, well-known performers and artists can introduce to the audience in Szeged. The programs are open to everybody and most of them are free to visit.
