One of the most significant and recurring events of the cultural life of the summer in Szeged is the national fine arts meeting held every two years at REÖK.
The exhibition tries to provide a comprehensive and authentic picture of Hungarian contemporary painting, in a free entry system, by presenting works selected by an expert jury. More than six hundred artists honored the exhibition with their works.
The jury: art historian Dr. Róbert Nátyi, head curator of REÖK, dean of the Faculty of Arts Béla Bartók of SZTE, János Aknay Kossuth prize-winning painter, Nemzet Artist and Győző graphic artist, Noémi Ferenczy prize winner, meritorious artist based on the extraordinary selection of the following works compiled in the XIX. Exhibition material of the Biennale of Contemporary Painting.
The pictures of the contemporary art meeting can even be viewed free of charge by those who buy a ticket for one of the performances of the Szeged Open-Air Festival. All they have to do is bring their open-air tickets with them and show them at the ticket office, so that they can look around the spacious spaces of the exhibition free of charge.
