The Tükrös orchestra was founded in 1986 in Budapest with the aim of interpreting the folk music of the Hungarian language regions as authentically as possible. Personal encounters, trips to Transylvania, and the acquaintance with the then still emerging folk culture committed the boys, who came from an urban, classical music background, to the folk tradition for life. Their role models are the old village bands, where the chamber music and the role of the musicians in the dance are typical.
