THEALTER was launched in 1991 and has since become one of the most important summer theatre festivals in Hungarian theatre. In addition to the fresh and exciting independent productions of the season, foreign companies also come to Szeged.

In addition to the theatrical performances, the festival offers a rich programme of accompanying events, including outdoor productions, children’s activities, music, exhibitions and professional events.
