Covering an area of 14 m2it is the largest alkali lake in Hungary. In the first third of the 20th century it was turned into a system of fish ponds. Because of its flora and extremely rich bird population with 280 species, it is a carefully protected area, and part of the Kiskunság National Park. The Tisza-völgy Exhibit House showing the changes of the area and the wildlife of the lake is located next to road E75. Besides visiting the exhibition, it is worth walking along the Gull study trail including the Beretzk outlook, which is a great place for observing the bird population of Fehért-tó, especially the gull colony of the Korom island. The almost two-kilometer long tour can be visited only with guides. The organised tours for observing the night flight of the cranes during the period of the autumn migration also start here.
