Vilmos Zsigmond (1930-2016), the world-famous Oscar-winning cinematographer of Hungarian origin, was born in Szeged, and the film festival named after him invites cinematographers to the festival with this in mind, focusing on the quality of the film image. The main aim of the festival is to raise awareness of the importance of the cinematographer, one of the most important co-creators of filmmaking, and to provide an opportunity for young filmmakers to showcase their work.
Entries will be judged primarily on the basis of the innovative cinematography, but also on the artistic quality of the film as a whole.
The film festival will be held between May 27-31 in four categories: feature films, short films, documentaries and music videos. In addition, introductory programs, outdoor screenings, and professional workshops, artist-audience discussions, and film master classes will enrich the program during the festival. Hungarian films will be presented as part of the Hungarian Cinematographers’ Week. The organizers will also provide opportunities for student film workshops.
Detailed program will be available on the festival website from April 2025.
