Christmas Festive Weeks

Christmas Festive Weeks

November 28 – December 24

Following tradition, the Szeged Christmas Festive Weeks will begin on November 28, just before the first Sunday of Advent, marking the start of the festive preparation period.
The main location will once again be Dóm Square, where enjoyable and meaningful programs await visitors of all ages. One of this year’s highlights is a two-storey nostalgic carousel, which children and adults alike can ride, operating until January 11.

Children’s favorites, the straw maze and the story corner, will also return. There will be opportunities to create handmade gifts and Christmas ornaments, and numerous retro filmstrip screenings will enrich the program.

The giant Ferris wheel will also operate until January 11, lifting visitors up to approximately 50 meters in enclosed cabins, offering a magical panoramic view of the city center dressed in festive lights.

Above Dóm Square, near the straw maze, the previous 8,000 LED lights have now been replaced with 25,000 tiny light points, creating an intimate and enchanting Christmas atmosphere.

In addition to the Advent programs, there will be fire-juggling shows every Friday, and during the final two weekends, visitors can enjoy impressive light projections as well.

Guests can not only explore the market and shop for gifts, but also enjoy a variety of traditional Christmas food and drinks.

Starting November 30, the candles on the city’s Advent wreath will be lit each Sunday by prominent public figures from Szeged together with representatives of the local churches.

Klauzál Square and Dugonics Square will also be ideal spots to sip mulled wine, and as always, the city center will be dressed in its festive attire, featuring Christmas lights, a giant reindeer, and a Santa’s sleigh, completing the magical holiday atmosphere.
