THEALTER was launched in 1991 as a summer theatre festival and has since become one of the most significant event series in Hungarian theatrical life. Alongside fresh and innovative independent productions from the current season, international theatre companies also travel to Szeged.

In addition to theatre performances, the festival offers a rich accompanying programme, including outdoor productions, children’s events, music, exhibitions, and professional gatherings.
