The widowed Lord Meldrum lives with his brother, mother-in-law, and two daughters in the upper echelons of 1920s London society. Their household staff—the cook, valet, butler, and maid—are just as colorful and eccentric as their employers. The beloved television comedy series, built on the contrasts between upstairs and downstairs, has made its charmingly chaotic characters familiar and adored not only by the British audience but also by viewers at home. Now, these characters come to life on stage, where the now-iconic personalities continue to pursue their passions—whether for money or the ladies.
Orlai Production presents, for the first time worldwide, the stage adaptation of the first series of the film franchise, set in the 1920s and humorously satirizing the eccentricities of both the aristocracy and their staff. The production features renowned actors such as Piroska Molnár—recipient of the Kossuth and Jászai Mari Awards, Honored and Excellent Artist, Actor of the Nation, and permanent member of the Society of Immortals—as well as Jászai Mari Award winners József Gyabronka and Csaba Debreczeny.
Under the direction of Jászai Mari Award-winning Gergely Kocsis, the July guest performances at the Újszeged Open-Air Stage will give the audience the chance to become His Lordship’s guests for two summer evenings that, in the words of Mabel the laundress, are sure to be “absolutely delightful!”

The play is represented in Hungary by THEATRUM MUNDI Theatre and Literary Agency.
