In keeping with tradition, the Szeged Christmas Weeks, the period of Advent preparations, begin on November 28, before the first Sunday of Advent.

The main location will again be Dóm Square, where visitors of all ages will find programs to enjoy.

A new attraction this year is the two-story nostalgic carousel, which both children and adults can ride until January 11.

There will again be a straw maze and a fairy-tale nook for children. Visitors can take part in craft activities, make gifts or Christmas tree decorations, and enjoy plenty of slide film screenings.

The enclosed-cabin Ferris wheel will be operating until January 11, lifting visitors 50 meters high, offering a wonderful view of the city center dressed in festive lights.

Above the straw maze on Dóm Square, instead of the previous 8,000 LED lights, now 25,000 light points will provide a warm, festive atmosphere.

In addition to the Advent programs, fire-juggler shows will take place on Fridays, and spectacular light projections will await visitors on the last two weekends.

Besides browsing and shopping, guests can enjoy delicious food and drinks thanks to the usual Christmas gastronomic offerings.

From November 30, public figures from Szeged and representatives of the churches will light the candles on the city’s Advent wreath together each Sunday.

Mulled wine will also be available at Klauzál Square and Dugonics Square, and the city center will once again be dressed in festive attire, with Christmas lights, a giant reindeer, and Santa’s sleigh.
