Four very different friends meet on a train to a Spanish seaside town to relive their youthful adventures, escape the troubles of everyday life, and fully enjoy their summer vacation. All of them are in their fifties, so in the scorching Andalusian heat, they must contend not only with the weather but also with their own “heatwaves.”
Among them are Frida, a divorced, compulsively tidy, medication-dependent woman; Paola, a slightly overweight, insecure middle-aged teacher trapped in a monotonous marriage; Carmen, a bold entrepreneur who devours life—and men—with gusto; and Alba, a somewhat naive but extremely friendly widow who enthusiastically dabbles in the esoteric, even if she doesn’t quite understand it. Naturally, no story would be complete without a charming man… but his role will remain a surprise for the audience at the Újszeged Open-Air Stage until August.
This rollicking musical comedy by Liliom Production, centered on women but far from being just for women, takes the audience on an exciting, adventurous journey. Packed with humor, it shines a light on the unavoidable challenges of menopause, while proving that the world doesn’t belong only to twenty-year-olds! Especially when women and men approach each other with self-irony, laughter, and openness.
