20 August in Hungary is the day of commemoration of Hungary’s first king St. Stephen, also the day of the foundation of Hungary and the day of the new bread. St. Stephen (ca. 975 – 15 August 1038), as the first king of Hungary, led the country into the Christian church and established the institutions of the kingdom and the church. He was canonized on 20 August 1083, and 20 August.

The two-day event related to the State Foundation Day of Hungary will begin on Friday, 19 August in the afternoon at Széchenyi Square, where live concerts, children’s programs, and a brass band meeting await those looking for entertainment.

In addition to the programs the Square will be transformed into a real craft and gastronomic market – wineries, small breweries, caterers and artisans also await visitors.

On 20 August the festive commemoration will be held in the afternoon and the festive fireworks can be seen from the Huszár Mátyás quay in the evening.
