Petra Gubik returns to the Szeged Open-Air Festival! The Junior Prima, Honthy, Kránitz Lajos and Petőfi Music Award–winning actress has, from the very beginning of her career, had a strong connection to Szeged’s star-roofed theatre. This time, however, she arrives in the City of Sunshine not as a musical heroine of Dóm Square, but as an independent performing artist, on the Újszeged Open-Air Stage.

Music is present in everyday life, weaving through one’s body and soul alike. It heals, entertains, relaxes, and can even function as therapy – believes the popular artist, who launched her own music project in 2023 under the title What’s in My Pocket? “I felt the time had come to step forward, to let the audience get to know me, Petra Gubik, beyond the roles I play. I created my What’s in My Pocket? music project so that during the concert as many imaginary post-it notes, messages, could be placed into the audience’s pockets as possible, in the form of intellectual value.”

This concert evening, built on the sound of a four-member acoustic band, is now enriched by a string quartet on the green-surrounded Újszeged stage. During the evening, Petra’s favorite songs will be performed – hits that have defined her life so far. She appears before the audience without role-playing, sharing her own thoughts, poems, songs, stories, and unique interpretations. She pulls all of this from her pocket, with unfiltered honesty and naturalness.
The special atmosphere is further enhanced by live sand art created for each song by graphic artist and visual artist Ágnes Szlávik, which the audience can admire projected in the background throughout the performance.
