The popular hangout for university students in Szeged opened its doors in March 1973 as the club of the József Attila University. By the mid-1980s, the institution had become a nationally renowned cultural and entertainment center. The basement club, which was converted from a cellar, is located in the center of Szeged, in the basement of the main building of the University of Szeged, thus indicating how integral it is to the everyday life of students. During the day, it operates as a café, and in the evenings, the hangout hosts faculty parties, concerts, numerous DJs, cultural programs, theater and poetry evenings, and a dance hall.
