About 10 km from Szeged, between km 157-158 of the E5 highway, is the old-new exhibition site of the Kiskunság National Park. The visitor center consists of two parts. The permanent exhibition of the former Tisza Valley Exhibition House presents the characteristic habitats and protected natural values of the Lower Tisza Region. In the newly built Kurgan House, Kornél Kuvik introduces visitors to the characteristic, protected geological values of the Great Plain, (Kun) mounds, in an interactive exhibition. They can gain insight into the diverse world of steppes and grasslands and the lives of our ancestors. They can learn how history is intertwined with traditions and nature conservation.
An installation showcasing the vibrant wildlife of saline lakes – like the former White Lake in Szeged – has also been placed between the walls. The lookout tower on the Sirály nature trail starting behind the building complex offers an insight into the bird paradise of White Lake.
The guided tours can be supplemented with a guided tour (1-1.5 hours) to Lake Fehér in Szeged.
