MakóSince the 18th century, the settlement has been known for the local Makó red onion, which became a sought-after product due to its unique taste and flavour, high shelf life, bone-white flesh, multi-layered bronze-red skin and high dry matter content. Ten public buildings and two public squares were built in Makó, based on the designs of architect Imre Makovecz, in a unique way in Hungary. The organic spaces created by him have a special ideological and aesthetic value. The Makovecz tour takes visitors on a 2-hour guided tour of the city centre. The last work of the famous organic architect from Mako, the Hagymatikum spa is unique and characterful because of its vast interior spaces. It features an exclusive sauna area, adventure pools, a children's world and a play house for families and relaxation. Thanks to the unique combination of Makó thermal water and Marosi medicinal mud, which relieves rheumatic complaints, guests have everything they need to recover and stay healthy. The beautiful banks of the Mures are home to naturally preserved floodplain forests and valuable flora and fauna. Lovers of kayaking, cycling and hiking can explore the area on various hiking trails. An educational trail - the Lombkorona Promenade - completes the discovery of flora and fauna. In addition, active leisure is encouraged by the newest Adventure Coast of the Great Plain, with 29 challenges, and a 10-metre high cableway that crosses the Mures River for a unique experience.
