29 November – 24 December
On November 29, the Szeged Christmas Weeks, the period of preparation for Advent, will start, organized by Szeged Városkép és Piac Kft. The central location will be Dóm tér again this year, where all ages will find their favorite pastime.
One of the attractions of the square will be the 50-meter Ferris wheel with closed cabins, from which you will have a unique view of Dóm square and the city center, resplendent in festive lights. The popular elements will return, there will be light-up selfie points, and the children will be treated to a straw maze, storybook, carousel and pony until December 24. You can drink mulled wine, eat roasted chestnuts or körtőskalács and linger at the warming points while looking among the artisanal goods.
During the Szeged Christmas Weeks, visitors will be treated to spectacular evening programs on Fridays and Saturdays, and Advent candle lighting on Sundays. It is a nearly 20-year-old tradition in Szeged that representatives of various churches and public figures jointly light the candles on the city’s huge Advent wreath as part of a festive program. In the city center, it will be possible to drink mulled wine or tea at smaller gastropubs on Klauzál Square and Dugonics Square. Of course, this year the city center will be wearing festive clothes, there will be Christmas lights, a giant reindeer and Santa’s sleigh.
